Winona Ryder Professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author and editors. Ryder's father was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated along with her family in Mendocino County California at the age of seven. In the area, there was no electricity. Ryder began to be a passionate book reader because there was no television. Ryder was 12 when she took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. She landed her debut role on the large screen in 1986 at the age of 15 aged. Ryder was bullied in high school. Her hope was that she would be able to change this. But, unfortunately, that didn't come to pass. The actress continued to chase the goals she had set for herself. Her biggest break came in 1988 through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in numerous films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
